“As one Dream is fulfilled…..A new Journey Begins“
Let’s begin….I’m a retired Government Accountant after 30 years on the job. I’m married and live in Slidell, LA. I have one grown son and three grandsons. They are the love of my life!!!
I absolutely love crochet, crafting, and sewing. I started sewing when I was in high school and also made quite a few outfits early in my career. I used to make curtains and just anything that would enhance my home. That was a long time ago. I stopped sewing but I had the urge to buy fabric and try to get back to it. All attempts failed until two years ago.
The opportunity came after retiring in December 2011. I rediscovered my love of sewing and I stumbled upon yarn crafts. I feel like I’ve been given a gift. I had never-ever tried any type of yarn crafting. I began to teach myself to crochet. I LOVE IT. Crochet has taken center stage in my life. It is my favorite hobby and like everyone else, I started with the introduction of granny squares. At first, I would start a project and never finish. Somewhere along the way, I picked up the crochet hook and was inspired by a very pretty yarn color. Project complete! I am far from an expert but I would love to pass on everything I’ve learned and share this wonderful gift I’ve been given.
I then decided to by my first book, “Granny Square Love, by Sarah London,” and it was on!! This was my foundation. After learning a few stitches, tips, tricks and techniques of crochet I was “hooked”. It gave me the confidence I needed to make something that I liked and something that I could give to family and friends. I branched out to make baby hats, booties, and blankets. From there, I’ve been inspired to make shawls, summer hats, beanies, flowers for hats, crochet accessories, gloves, dish cloths, etc. With crochet, the possibilities are endless. I get the most pleasure out of seeing someone so excited by the hand crafted items I’ve made for them. If you’ve ever thought about learning a new craft try CROCHET; get started today; I did and You Can Too!! Feel free to share your experience.
